Wound Care at the Frontline: Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC-3)

Wound Care at the Frontline: Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC-3) is the Tactical Field Care (TFC). It is the care rendered by the soldier medic once they and the casualty are no longer under effective hostile fire. In some cases, TFC may consist of rapid treatment of wounds with the expectation of a re-engagement of hostile fire at any moment.

Diabetes Days to Save: Lives, Limbs & $$$$$$$$$

Overview of Program: CEU Program designed for clinicians in all settings who are managing patients with diabetes and diabetes-related complications, specifically those with foot ulcers or lower extremity arterial disease leading to amputations.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

Overview of Program: CEU Program. Closed suction for wound drainage management has demonstrated, since 1905, to be an option and effective method for managing large wounds and fistulas with copious amounts of drainage. There is even more evidence that negative pressure wound therapy reduces the bacterial load and edema while stimulating angiogenesis, all of which is essential for wound healing.

Lower Extremity Wound Care

Over view of Program: CEU Program designed for clinicians interested in lower extremity chronic wound care. Opportunity for didactic and "hands on" to learn how to assess for neuropathy, perfusion, apply negative pressure wound therapy, don and doff compression garments and more.

Infection & Detection of Chronic Wounds

Overview of Program: CEU Program was designed especially for wound care clinicians interested in wound bed preparation for application of advanced wound technologies and adjunctive tehrapies. Content will include obtaining appropriate wound cultures and use of topical antimicrobials to reduce bioburdan.

Edema as an Impediment to Wound Healing

Overview of Program: CEU Program. Edema and periwound lymphedema are major impediments to wound healing yet rarely discussed in the literature published in the United States. These programs are designed to address lower extremity ulcers and the role edema/lymphedema has on wound healing.

Use of a 3-D Soft Foot Model (Medical Teaching Foot) for Foot Care: Pilot Study

Pilot study completed utilizing a 3-D soft foot model for teaching foot care. Study is being presented frequently in an effort to generate interest in foot care for prevention of injuries leading to amputation.
